600 shipped doesn't sound so bad. And if you can sell the old box you're at least making money off your welding practice.  8)

Just read through the whole build thread. It's great seeing the progress of other peoples success in autocross with s10s. Do you have any issues with getting through tighter corners or slaloms with the longer wheelbase of the extended cab? What tires are you running this year?

No, I actually do better on tighter courses where being down on power and having an auto trans is less of an issue. I've gotten good at trail-braking and using the throttle to steer so that helps. I haven't run the truck yet this year but I'll probably use a set of 255/40-17 slicks I picked up from a friend if I do. I'm mostly running my car now (because V8 + 6-speed + 315's) but I'm still tinkering away at the truck and haven't given up on it.

Haha I hear ya! Tighter courses were better for my 4cyl too. I don't blame you for running the car though. I bet that thing hooks pretty well with 315s all around. There is a guy who runs Milwaukee SCCA here with a camaro of that vintage and does extremely well. Very good setup on that car and shockingly capable for it's size.

Made one substantial (dimensionally anyway) addition to the parts pile.

Rust-free southern US box in the right color. It even came with some sick tail light covers - score!

My wife encourages it.  ;)

Hasn't that box been on the way for a couple months?

Yep, I was talking to the guy last fall about it! It was >3 hours away and we couldn't figure out how to get it to me for a decent price. I let it drop to the back burner for months at a time until we finally sorted it.

It was surprisingly easy to unload from his trailer with the chain hoist and I dropped it onto an old cart I had to make it easy to move around. I think I'll be able to swap the box myself when I get time.

I think I've made up my mind to sell this truck and get a first gen or very early (non-airbag equipped) second gen regular cab short box for a turbo/pro-touring project. That likely won't happen until next year though.

Been following this for some time. Good Stuff! Do you know if xtreme80 still does tunes, or someone else? I live in Arizona. Thanks, Ric

Not sure if Shawn is still doing tunes, I lost track of him after s10planet died. He did have an account on S10f, maybe try PM'ing him there. I really liked his tune.

THX, I'll give it a try. "Wait4Me" has evolved into a mega tuning business over the last 10 years or so. I just lost touch with everyone.
