Project : was a Xtreme
« on: May 13, 2017, 11:59:16 AM »
My son turned 18 & graduating from high school so I picked up a 2002 ext cab step side 4.3 auto that was a Xtreme but the PO hit a deer & decieded to remove all the Xtreme skirts & front spoiler. He drove the truck for a while & then sold it to us for $500. It was running but had a bad driveshaft carrier bearing & was not running very well.

So I got the carrier bearing fixed so we could drive it & what else it needed.....It had 230,000 miles so I removed the cat & it started running a lot better so I let him start driving it to school & around town. After driving it around 6 months the motor died so I got a motor from a local junk yard & installed it & its been running real good.  Here is what it looked like when we got it.....

So we needed to do something with the rear fenders missing so we bought this kit.

I painted the roll pan & sides with a rattlle can till we can get the whole truck painted & found some Xtreme wheels for $150 & installed some Falken 245/50-16 tires. I plastidipped the wheels black after I had them stripped.

Last night I ordered the JTR driveline alignment kit & some 1.5 inch blocks to lower the rearend.

That truck really got neglected after that deer. Glad to see you're taking it back the other way.

What happened to the extra it had before?

How does your son like it?

Yeah I think he was photoshopping the pics of when he owned it.  LOL

Extra ?

My son loves it !!   Back in November it lost compression in one cyl so I bought a junkyard motor & was surprised when I started installing new gaskets that the motor was rebuilt somewhere along the line,it had the updated intake gaskets & the updated fuel injectors.

I put all new gaskets on everything but I didnt replace the rear main seal & guess what leaked when I fired it up ?  Yep the damn thing leaked so I put in some lucas oil stop leak & it worked.  I couldnt believe it  !!!

He has been driving it around but the front end is shot so I got some tubular upper arms & ball joints & gonna takle that next.

Extra words? Haha I was trying to ask about the extra drop it had before. His pictures show it slammed. Yours look like stock Xtreme height.

He took it all out/off.

Gonna lower the rear a little to level it out.
