v8 rx7 autox class?
« on: May 24, 2013, 08:46:25 AM »
Hi guys,

my car is finally close to doing some trial runs at some autoXs before i start hitting track days.

so what class does my car fall under?

So far I seem to fit in SSM, but i see some guys on v8rx7 forums running in XP... but not sure why unless they are too light to fit in SSM?
i doubt I will be forced all the way up to e-mod..... at least hope not.

so quick specs on my car to help settle what i should be going into.

88 fc, 5.3+t56.
275 r-comps on 17x9 all around.
non-stock springs and dampers.
some weight reduction, still running almost full interior.
2 seater, not a 2+2 although im not sure the 2+2 actually would help the classing or not.
probably looking around 2800 lbs now, havent weighed it yet so just a complete out of the ass number.
(XP limit for me is 2154lb, SSM limit is 2460lbs) I doubt i'm close to those numbers yet.
no aero.

thoughts?

D. Drivetrain and related components (induction, ignition, fuel systems,
etc.) are unrestricted except for the following limitations:
1. Engine block must be a production unit manufactured and badged
the same as the original standard or optional engine for that model.
Badges that exist as marketing aliases for the manufacturer
will be recognized as equivalents. Swaps involving makes related
only at a corporate level are not recognized as equivalents. Models
produced as a joint venture between manufacturers may utilize
any engine from any partner in the joint venture, provided that
an engine from the desired manufacturer was a factory option in
that particular model (e.g., Eagle Talon, available originally with
either a Mitsubishi or Chrysler engine, may use any motor from
Chrysler or Mitsubishi). This allows engine blocks manufactured
as production units for sale in other countries such as Japan or
Germany.
looks like im going XP

Yeah the SCCA doesn't care too much for swapped cars or cars with a lot of mods.  They usually just get thrown into catch-all classes like SM or XP.
