AZ autoX Fall Season Opener
« on: September 15, 2009, 09:17:44 AM »
Awesome day at the track. We used Firebird West Track again. Had fun upto the point where i completely stripped a bolt out of my frame on my swaybar bracket in my second run. Truck was a challenge to drive fast after that. Still managed to place 9th in my class for the day with a 78.238 course time.

Results: Ran ESP-ST2 http://www.azsolo.com/cgi-bin/results.cgi

Track layout- Same track layout that we used back in May.

My fastest lap at 78.238

Looks like you had fun. Was it the front bar that pulled the bolt out?

looks like fun!

if it was the front bar bracket, just drill it out and nut the other side.
it takes a bit of patience, but there is enough room to do it.

stock, its just threaded into the 1/8" or so frame rail, so its not suprising it pulled through

yea the front bar pulled it out. Sadly it was the back bolt and the frame is blocked off to the back bolt for the swaybar mounts. I've thought about straight welding the brackets to the frame. Or notching a hole to weld a nut flush with the frame to mount to. we'll see.

thanks for the advice

i coulda sworn there was a small gap underneath the plate that looks like itll get in the way so somehow i got the nut on both bolts.... but it was a while ago, maybe im mistaken.

is there any slop with those rivnuts? ive never used one before

I think the DS has a plate blocking.
The only time I had a problem with them was when I drilled the hole to big. I'm using them to mount the gas tank so you know I trust them.

I missed this thread so I know you probably already fixed this long ago!  This happened on my truck as well.  I didn't have access to the threaded inserts at the time so I helicoiled it and it's held up fine so far (almost a year of daily driving and 4 events on it)
