Roll cage with dashboard... all stock stuff
« on: March 05, 2015, 01:31:44 AM »
Trying to keep my truck as "stock" as possible. but i'd like to be safe. you never know what may happen. was looking for a way to use a 10 point roll cage, and keep it from going through my dashboard. i understand that curving it around may not be the safest thing, but what about following the pillar until it drops straight down in front of the dashboard? any input would be appreciated.

if you are street driving the truck without a helmet/harness, don't get a cage. hitting your skull against the bars will hurt a lot.
my blazer is cooler than your s10

+1, been there, done that, have the t-shirt, bare head meeting rollbar sucks.

The layout you're talking about is entirely possible though. To do it you'll want the entire interior out and you'll have to pull the windshield to get to everything. Oh, and your lateral bar between your verticals inside the dash is going to mess with your AC routing, but it can be done.

the plan was to be able to street drive it, but safety for any events i maybe able to do in the near future.  well not near but once it's done. i rather not have bare face smashing a metal bar. I'd like it street legal, but not risking safety. seen guys with the bars that connect to the seat belt locations so they can run harnesses. no cage involved.
