I don't think I'm smooth at all - I had a nasty 'tank-slapper' in high speed (70 mph) slalom last year. If I hadn't reigned it in I would have hit the club van/timing control... my strength is probably car control, I'm pretty decent at setting up fast transitions, taking advantage of trail braking, and controlling oversteer (and regaining control after fucking up).

My Konis were clocked the wrong way on the front when originally installed so I can't adjust them. I'm going to get that fixed soon, I think I need them stiffer with the new found grip.

Those are good strengths to have. Very good to have if you aren't smooth and ride on the ragged edge often. Haha! I know a few people like that. Glad to see you getting out there! My next event is next weekend. How'd you place at this event?

I think I was ~6th out of 15 entries (we have a small club).

Gotchya. Does SCCA do any events up there at all, or is that just in the US? How far do you travel for your events?

Our club is part of the FIA network but I don't think SCCA is associated with that. A few of our members go down to the SCCA nationals regularly but I don't think SCCA has anything north of the border.

I have one on Wednesday night. After that it's a 2 day regional event at an air strip in early August.

Yes, I've done 2 or 3 of them, usually with a test and tune day before hand. Counting the T&T it usually ends up being 20+ runs so it makes for a fun weekend (that's really hard on tires...).

I never expect FTD so I'm happy to be close to the fast cars on Hoosiers or RE71's. Also, I pulled off a perfect (but unintentional) 30 foot drift through a 180 balancing between lift-off oversteer and a powerslide but they didn't award points for style.

Looks like you had a good night! Being right up there with much smaller more nimble cars that are more suited for autocross, I'd say you are doing quite well!!! I think the f-body cars of that era are a rather under rated car that is often over looked....considering how you are doing with yours and a couple I have seen around here that do very well, I think the cost of what you can buy one for vs the performance they offer, makes for a very good deal.

Yeah, they seem to have good potential. I paid ~$3100 US for it and probably have $2200 worth of suspension and wheels/tires in it. It would have been nice to start with a '98+ LS1 car but they go for at least twice the money around here.

Looks like it was a decently fast course! Big empty lots are hard to come by around here....we have most of our events on asphalt circle tracks.

I beat the only other car in CAM-C, a 2017 Mustang GT with the competition package running 285 Firehawks. It was a 2 day event and it rained 99% of the time - It felt like I had surf boards bolted to the front hubs when the track was wet...

That looks like an awesome course! Nice and big, more like the SCCA courses here. I wish we had something like that our local club could run on!

I rectified a high-idle issue associated with a worn out 52mm throttlebody and afterwards realized that I must have been down 30+ hp as a result. I'd made so many changes at the same time last winter that I didn't notice the lack of improvement with the new parts and tune. I was in 2nd, almost straight doing ~45 mph in this picture (sorry cone) and I left a pair of foot-wide black marks 10 ft long when I floored it   :)

It is nice - it was never weaker than before, I just didn't get any of the benefits from the parts/tune I threw at it.

I only have one more race at the end of the month. Our season was cut short this year since one of our organizers moved away.
