I bet it's not that far off, it's just fluid dynamics over a basic shape
the real world has atmospheric conditions, but it still helps to get a basic idea of what's going on

looks pretty cool and looks similar to what they did on mythbusters with tailgate up/down myth.  would be neat to try on with a cab spoiler and bed spoiler and see how it upsets the pressure zone in the bed.
