Hot rod + mini = ^^^
Like I said, you have some killer builds and it's good to have you on the board.

Has anyone ever noticed, that even though trucks like the Chevy Luv, Isuzu Pup, Toyota pickup, and early Nissan (whatever it was called), and even 1st gen S10's look downright small compared to todays newest halfton trucks, we could still pack and haul a motherfvck of a load with them??

Not even kidding.  A brand new 2010 Chevy 1/2 ton is like twice the size of my old 84 C10, yet still doesn't have anything higher than a half-ton rating.  WTF is wrong with that picture??  I could load my 84 to high hell and it would pull away with it all with a stock 350.  My 85 Toyota pickup, I rolled full dumpsters into the bed, cruised down the road on the rear bumpstops, and it still took off like it was empty, and hauled all I could throw at it. There was nothing it couldn't pull from a dead stop.

84 C10, 350ci/5.3L 145hp
85 Toy Pickup, 2.4L  97hp
2009 Chevy Silverado 1500, 4.8L base motor, 295hp.

Does anyone see where I'm going with this??

haha.. i see what your saying...

the truck is pretty damn small...

even small with cab sitting on the tranny/ladder bar crossmember lol

fits in our 12x16 shed... door way is 63.5" wide.. cab is 63" wide :-0 . so turn cab sideways for more room

Those pictures totally proved my point!!!  So small, yet there wasnt anything we couldnt do in the day...except for haul entire families...boats bigger than the garage....stuff like that...  But they were trucks!! The did what they had to, and nothing more!  The came with only the basic options, thats all they needed!

First & foremost.. this is sweet! ..& I really like how you thought out how to do the master under the dash. I've only seen that done in street rods where they shaved the firewall & couldn't mount it under the floorpan.

..about the payload & whatnot for 1/2 tons.. the reason the trucks are bigger & only have the same ratings is because once you start adding more options; whether saftey, sound deadening, stereo systems & other creature conforts.. the load capasity goes down because of all the crap taking up space & weight. Ditch it & you'd be back at the smaller vehicle... If I'm not mistaken brake systems are also factored into the payload equasion.. so pop on bigger brakes & cram a bigger engine in the 1/2 tons & pow.. may payload. (right?)
If you can't say anything nice.. post it on the internet!

LUV's have always held a special place with me. Our neighbor use to have several of them when I was a kid. One was a black 4X4. That is a very cool ride!!!
ball joints, shocks, an idler arm, a locking differential and doors, I need them all.

Have you decided to bag it? If so what are the plans for the coil overs?
Progress is looking good.

its time to figure out what i want to do with rear suspension so the truck will be a roller..

narrowed mustang II crossmember 3"

motor just sitting there..

threw body on to see if my measurements have been good.. so far so good!

body mounts

gussets were added..

motor needs to be pushed back for a pan to clear..

everything pulled back off for motor n tranny mounts

champ pan..

Very cool.  Little "low" for my taste, but is definitely one of my favorite trucks ever.  Glad someone is doing one up right!!

Keep the updates coming!!

Fuck me I love this truck.

One suggestion, don't paint it. Keep the 4x4 crap on the bed. It just makes it sooo much better.
