it's sporting what the seller says is a NASCAR-spec Chevy 4.3-litre fitted with a massive 75mm BW S400SX turbo. Bowtie heads, a 4" drainpipe for exhaust, and an E85-chugging carb help this monster pump out a claimed 629 horsepower at the wheels, along with 578 foot pounds of torqemada in the same general locale.

too bad it's in a sunbird.

That suspension is insane, and heavy I bet.

Aston sure does know how to make a tuned header, wow.

idk either, but I love that truck!  lol
What you are seeing on that black 1st gen, is a Wide Five hub. it's an aluminum hub for steel nascar wheels. They allow you to use the same bearings as the axle bearings in some quick change full floater set ups. So if you run a late model, you only have to but one kind of wheel bearing. Even if you dont run the same bearing in the rear axle, the Wide Five hubs allow you to run the "Big" Howe spindle, and the enormous bearing that make it work so well.
Also, in some local racing classes, you can not have aluminum wheels. Racer's that wanted to lighten their unsprung weight switched to this huge cast aluminum hub and eliminated most of the steel wheel.

Except for the spindles and bearing you can use, this application on the street is moot. Aluminum wheels are relatively  inexpensive now, and there is no "wheel rule" for the street.

I've seen some pics of it on s10 forum. The owner was on there for a bit talking about it. I remember he was being very secretive about the backspacing on his wheels like everyone was begging him for it or something. It was in the 1st gen pictures section I think? If you can find it shoot him a pm I imagine he would be willing to let you know what he has done.

I remember now where I saw pics of that blazer.

It's set up for hillclimbs, double wishbone with tube chassis front supports, 406, quick change rear. The guy who owns it is from New England.

I cant say for sure, but i think he has a fab stub front frame, possibly the entire chassis is fabbed. He may also be using adjustable link style UCA's and LCA's with a 4 link/ panhard bar rear end. You could give Howe Racing Products your credit card number and they could set you up with every part you would need to turn a 2 wheel drive dime or blazer into a beast like that.

His name is Butch Miller and he has videos all over the net of hillclimb events he's been in.

I personally think he put a first gen body on an older non-biased late model chassis. However, the wheel base looks a little shorter than your average late model.  I've always wanted to do the same. Bad!
