i put mine on the outside of the frame rails in front of the rear right tire out of simplicity.
would have preffered to put it inside the frame rails, but a lot of heat goes throug hthere so i decided against it

I have a Blazer, so I relocated it inside the cab all the way to the back on the passenger side.  To ground to the body and frame I sandwiched two the floor with two wires using the existing tie down hook.  Top wire went to the battery.  Bottom wire to the frame.

First gen 2dr blazer doesn't have a step. and my exhaust is right behind the passenger side rear tire, and the muffler is just in front of it, inside the frame. I could move it on the passenger side outside the frame, but I'd like to keep it more centered if I can. I need to get under it and look around better, I'm pretty dedicated to making sure I get it nice and low.

Is wiring a relocated battery as simple running the new positive cable up to the distribution block (pictured in S-10driver's post) and running the negative to the frame as a ground?  I've heard mention of requiring a ground strap on the engine or something like that.  I have everything ready to put mine in the bed but I'd like to be sure before I dive in.

Personally, I would make sure the engine ground strap(should all ready be one) is in good shape and the alternator wiring is clean and in good shape. Besides that, the frame should be an adequate ground.

I'm about to add a ground strap from the frame to the rad support too.  Orignal battery was tied into the rad support and I've been having some interesting turn signal issues since I did the swap.  Going a bit overkill making sure everything is grounded well will not hurt even though as is it should be alright.  Right now my battery is grounded to the frame and the body.  The engine is grounded to both as well and I will be adding an extra strap to the rad support as I already said.

greencactus3 has the best location of the bunch if you can find the room. You can also work with some very compact batteries like the "no weight" batteries from Braille for even more options. They are extremely compact and lightweight. You can hide them about anywhere. There are similar models from Deka that are more affordable http://www.braillebattery.com/

When it comes to ideal weight location for handling, mounting anything behind the rear axle is the equivalent of stabbing yourself with a pencil. Sadly, often there is no other option.

Everything I do with the truck feels like stabbing myself in the eye with a pencil, I'm pretty much getting used to it.
