some auto-X vids from today
« on: September 19, 2010, 06:50:32 PM »
First vid was my fastest run of the day, a 73.8.  The best raw time of the event was a 71.2 by a gutted and caged 240SX that weighed ~1300 lbs less than my truck.  The new club I'm running with is smaller and they don't have quite the depth of talent that the other club had so I run a bit closer to the fastest overall times.  You may be able to hear in the in-car vid that the G80 is killing me  :( . The lot is bumpy and it was refusing to lock up consistently so there was tonnes of time lost with one-tire-fire corner exits.

Sounds like it was very windy.  Nice runs!

The local SCCA group here has pretty much disappeared.  the lot we were using kicked us out, and we haven't found a new location to run.

I had the windows open and the camera hates that!  We actually run in the parking lot of an amusement/water park.  I guess the club pretty much shuts down over the summer months when the park is open but they get great access in when it's closed in spring/fall.

A club member stuck a camera to my roof at an event last week

You can even see the CTS-V that I beat at the end  ;D

(mods feel free to embed the video, I can never figure it out)

We have a few nice lots now.  I'm waiting on a friend to upload a vid from a different lot that had more room to move.

I did the first time I went...made some corner workers run. haha  They allow you to walk the course before the race (if you're new they usually require you to walk the course).  I always walk the track at least twice.

Yeah, I walk the track at least 2 or 3 times first but I still get lost every now and then.  Sometimes you lose your concentration for an instant and it's all over  :'(

I'm jealous you live in that area, it's so beautiful. My uncle has a place in Florenceville and a buddy of mine was living in oromocto for a while as well. I might be heading down that way just before the winter. If I do I would love to come by and check out your truck.

I do an event just about every week during the spring/summer/fall (hence the need for a new set of front tires between each oil change).

That was some serious water laying on the course. The truck was looking good in the news footage. How did your times compare?
