Gauge set idea for OBDII
« on: May 31, 2011, 06:37:14 PM »
OBDII bluetooth adapter connected to an Android Tablet, 7-10" running Torque or one of the other half dozen OBDII apps, would also allow running Navigation, you could tether it to you cellphone for internet access and can be used as an MP3 player to your stereo, all in one.

Thoughts?

This might be enough to sway me to the 5.3L camp...

Lets try it this way.

Bluetooth OBDII transmitter > Android Tablet running Torque

For a full customizable digital gauge set that can also do full Google Navigation, play MP3s or movies or anything else a normal Android device does.

I love the Torque app. Works great, cool UI. Can't say enough good things about it.

pretty cool if thats what you want. I still prefer the look of analog gauges, started mocking my gauge panel on a piece of scrap cardboard to see what layout im gonna go with, im still missing 2 gauges (fuel psi and AFR) i know its a little overkill to have them all, but i like to know whats going on when i have this much cash wrapped up in a motor.

the only concern id have with using the screen is under really sunny conditions unless you have tinted windows.

That's actually a really good point. Maybe I should consider keeping the late first gen dash and recessing it back where the stock gauges are.
