Spotted this around town lately, so when I spotted it parked it was a good opportunity to snap some pictures for others who are always curious about this. I know Ryo will be with his talk of widening the long bed.

front step shaver is usually the hardest part of doing this from what i've seen, looks like it was done pretty smoothly.

Doing that and a wider front fender would look really incredible.
A semi local guy to me is doing this right now,

He was telling me it adds just over 7" to the width. So that's more or less 3.5" fender flares on either side.
That would allow for a pretty wide rear tire without modding the frame.

haha lot more doable on a 6ft bed, not to mention anyone ask their budgets on it?

I don't see why the bed length would make that big a difference on doing this, you're essentially just using the one section and grafting it onto the existing bed sides, no?

^ It's even simpler then that. I'm not saying that's not the way some have done it but, If you start with a stepside you just cut it right down the middle and more or less fill in the gap for the bed braces and sheet metal. I think someone mentioned it above but the hardest part would be shaving the factory front side steps. I guess then you would have to do something for a tailgate as well. I would be surprised if the stock fleetside would be the exact dimensions needed.

the way ive seen people on the internetz do it is, take the skin off the fleetside bed, (much like the process to install fiberglass bedsides) and then take the skin of the stepside, and spot weld it on.
then deal with the stepside plastic pieces.
this allows a stock fleetside inner bed and tailgate.

Well, seems we've well established the three ways you could do it, lol.

Late bump - sorry.
The sheet metal part has already been covered. But...
What rear end was used? A ZR2 or what? And then what about the spring perches? Also since the springs would seem to be in the same place as a fleetside, soft springs might be OK on smooth roads though but get a bit bumpy and there might be some bottoming issues. (think leverage from science class)
It is cool though, and what a way to tub an S-10!

The one I got pictures of IIRC had a rear end from some other vehicle. Wasn't out of an S10 (including ZR2). I wasn't able to ID it myself. With the Vette wheels he is running even with the ZR2 I'm guessing spacers would be needed. The vette's have nearly no offset.
