ISO/WTB long bed frame
« on: October 07, 2011, 06:48:22 PM »
Hey guys, I want a long bed frame. 117" wheelbase. No ext cab frames please. Hopefully local pickup. I'm around Chicago. I'd like to trade parts for frame if possible because I do not have much money. If I do pay I'd pay no more than $100 shipped for the frame alone. If it's a complete truck I'd go a little higher.. $250. I'd get it towed if it were complete. Need not run, only need frame. So, if you've got a rusted out non-running junker long bed s10/gmc that has a good frame & don't want to get ripped off because the junk yard doesn'y pay out.. call me. Thanks guys

well... if you can get a deal on either a 4x4 or 2wd (dont really care at this point) blazer frame (2nd gen) I will trade you straight up for my frame.
only problem(?) that you may not like is: several crossmembers moved or gone. bolt-in notch. lopped off the frame after the shock xmember (still have the cut off piece, was a clean cut, shouldnt be hard to weld back on.

let me know if you are interested. otherwise i think ill cut it up even more and just do a full backhalf
my blazer is cooler than your s10

Sorry, saw your frame & it's cut up in all the spots I need. I have a 2wd blazer frame (1st gen) that I'm pulling suspension & body off. Was just going to scrap the shell since all I want off that project is the suspension, 8.8 exploder rear, trans & modified radiator support. I've got a 4" fiberglass cowl hood. If anyone has an untouched long bed 2wd frame, I'd be happy.

thats too bad.
from what ive read up, the 1st gen blazer frames are too similar to the 2nd gen trucks to be worthwhile to go down and pick it up.
Harley, you agree?

What ive seen is first gen blazers are boxed ahead of the frame seam, c channel rear of the seam.

I'd stick with the 2nd gens.  There are a lot  of frame improvements for the SUVs.

And Hammer Head, I will say that finding a frame for $100 or a rolling chassis for $250 will be quite the endeavor currently.  With scrap steel prices being north of $200 a ton in the recent past it isn't worth selling a full vehicle for anything less than $500-600 since the scrap value is near that.

Keep looking just speaking from experience shopping for cheap trucks to part out.

Thanks. Too bad your frame is only worth scrap to me. I need a 'complete' frame to do a frame swap.. with something other than an S10.

Thanks anyway.
