Is that the sound of killing rotors?

I'm sure they already do, didn't you see his S10 burnout in his yard?

runs like shit though, and pulling code p1136 crankshaft position system variation not learned.

hoping that fixes it..... otherwise, possibly a massive vacuum leak that I havent found?

also probably not building great fuel pressure either.

Open headers + leaky fuel lines = elaborate insurance claim?

That sounds way too rough to be only the crankshaft position. Double check your wiring for all 8 injectors and coils, the crankshaft position, and see if you can get a fuel pressure gauge on it. The service manual also suggest looking at the Air intake temp, engine coolant temp, MAP and throttle position for erratic or incorrect values.

If you can run it again with some extra hands around, you can take advantage of your very long tube header to feel if some cyl's are burning and some are not.

As for the crankshaft relearn, that is the one drawback to the tunercat software I use, I can't do it with that tool. HP tuner and EFIlive sound like they can, as well as a Tech2 tool. I do have a procedure for letting it relearn on its own during a road trip, but it sounds like we're kind of far away from driving still. I'll keep digging and see what else I can find on forcing the relearn procedure.

See what you can do with the checks, and I can make myself available monday evening to help work on it.

no insurance, so no claims there.
Dont worry about monday, I have way too much stuff going on to try to get the fuel pressure gauge etc working by then.

I'll try to check the continuity of all the the injectors and coils to the pcm too.

from the internet searching looks like crankshaft relearn shouldnt change runability of the engine, just knock recognition.

so sounds like a non-issue for now, I should be able to make the car drivable to a dealer/tuner with the code still there.

and thanks

checked the harness/pcm continuity of all fuel injectors and coils, all checked out.

set up a fuel pressure gauge,
fuel pressure was at 20psi running the stock harness wires, so i ran a relayed setup through 12ga, and now seeing the correct pressure.

runs way better, idles just under 1000rpm (kinda rough still)
BUT
with throttle, it wont rev over 1500 rpm. feels like either a fuel/spark/both cut by the pcm.
happens every time.

no codes except P1336...

http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids/1256929-car-wont-rev-past-1500-rpm.html

similar problem possibly?

Al, can you provide more insight on the changes you made to convert my pcm for t56 use over the 4l60e original settings?

started a thread on another forum for more ideas as well.

The abuse mode theory sounds plausable.

I had uncheck'ed the abuse mode enabled switch in Tunercats, but the more I read the more I'm suspect of what that switch is really toggling. I can reflash and zero it out another way, that will remove abuse mode from the list of culprits.

Your crankshaft position sensor is in the side of the block by the starter, the sensor ring is installed in the middle of the crankshaft. So I'm doubting it was damaged at all. That code will set when the learned parameters are cleared out during reprogramming sometimes.

i'll check all the sensor connections tonight in hopes of fixing it, but if it doesnt work i might be sending the pcm back to you.
I'll try to do some reading on the abuse mode toggle later today.
i did swap oil pans, but i doubt i damaged the sensor or the wheel.

Fixed!

Glad to know to watch out for abuse mode now on segment swaps.

yes, fixed, and jeez is open headers loud.
i thought revving to 1500 rpm was loud before, got it up over 5k last night with blizazer and Harley.
cant wait to drive it (quietly) away from my neighbors so I can wind it up again on the way to make the full exhaust.....

updateish:

done with the big stuff really.

I did go through a couple iterations of cooling

behold the high mount radiator.

and the low mount radiator

and then mocking up for final placement of rad

i didnt like the spoiler the car came with, so shaving had to happen

and then i did a fancy carbon part for the hole in the hood, but i don't really like how it flows with my car.
will sell/trade for the cost of an plastic bolt-on cowl from jegs/whatever company. (I have CAD data of the part)

negative mold made on CNC router, sanded, primed

sealed, waxed, ready for lay up

part layed, 4 ply carbon with foam core in key areas, vacuum bagged

pulled from bag

and the part trimmed and sitting on the hood.

the carbon turned out beautiful and flawless, i just drew it wrong. blah. sucks. someone buy it.

and then made this

so its nice and drivable now without attracting too much attention.

borrowed a friends cobra R wheels, liked how they looked, so will add that to the shopping list

pedal setup

had a friend come by and help give it a detailing.

so far ive probably put 1000 or so miles on it (just got the speedometer/odo working again so no clear number...

but damn is it fun.

I sense a bit of sarcasm in the "without attracting too much attention" sentence...

also have brand new rotors all around. along with swapping a rear wheel bearing, i got the rear brakes all done, only broke 2 bolts and took 3 months to get it done..... oh well.

I had an '80 (metal bumper). I loved that car. Not a lot of power - 108hp, I think - but really light, at around 2200lbs. I'd love to find another one, someday.

maybe you should be giving up on stupid heavy-ass s10s and build up an rx7 instead?
