Went out & got the BBC & Super-T10 installed. Got it in but didn't bolt in the trans crossmember. Had to cut, hammer & re-weld the K member for oil pan clearance & hammer the firewall a little for some distributor clearance.

Here's the BBC...

I got the trans mount modified & installed today. Cut out a hole for the shifter, too. Only took a pic of the installed shifter.. haven't uploaded it yet.

Here's the trunk..

Very nice!

I just noticed you list a 240Z project as well, do you have a link to a build thread on that? They've always been amongst my favorites.

I used to. My cousin was in charge of the site but he has moved away & left the project. Since I don't have a job I can't pay the skilled guy I have building the chassis & putting in the roll cage... so, that said.. that project has been put on hold. This Ford is basically free. The reason I say that is because it's all parts I have layin around for or from other projects.. aside from trades that get me the parts I need & don't have on hand.

Looks good Jason.

I can say the 240z is badass and ridiculous. I love that car.

I don't understand why it shows new replies less than half the time on this site...

Headers that fit the blazer didn't want to fit the truck frame.. even though the engine was set back farther. Guess, because the blazer uses raised motor mounts that gave me enough space. Anyways, I cut up 2 sets of headers & made my own. Still needed to cut & shape part of the floor & firewall on the passanger side. Driver side I needed to use some 45 degree street elbows on the remote oil filter adapter to clear the headers. They're mounted but no picture. Got the blazer tank mounted up tonight & 2 AN lines made for the 'feed' & 'return'. I 'Y'ed off the fuel filter & ran one side back to the pump as the return.

I got a little more done. I got the fuel filler made up. I bought a new race style filler & cut & welded on the filler neck from the blazer. Made an access panel for the fuel pump. I fab'ed up my exhaust & found a drive shaft I think will fit. It's from a '99 F150, it's 60" CL to CL, uses 1330 U-joints &, best of all,.... I can go get another at a junkyard if I need!

Update.. runs, drives, needs an alignment, it's fast & stops faster. Could use a tuning because something's up when I take off hard. Almost like I get some fuel slosh in the carb. Seemed to go away a bit when I turned up the regulator & opened up the idle screws a touch. Have the home-made cal-tracs on & it hooks.. needed to use Z85 rear springs because the drop springs bottomed out. Car has a '70s rake to it. Have a little body work to do.. if I really feel like it. Thinking about making a V8 VW beetle w/ a chopped top... who knows where I can find one reletively cheap?

Update...
Still haven't done pictures but there was one around here w/ the traction bars I made. Somehow my drive shaft hit the crossmember (rear crossmember) I made to take the place of the stock rear crossmember (the one that goes over the fuel tank, under the bed) under a hard launch. Seemed to be more than enough clearance.. only thing I can think is the Belltech 3" drop springs aren't that strong & I had a little more than just spring wrap. I think the torque tweeked the springs so it acted more like a 6" rear drop. So, I got some Z85 rear springs from the junkyard, modified them (by removing some of the bushings) & mounted the traction bars I made. I drove the car around & it was feeling pretty good but I didn't like the mile-high lift in the back (the Z85 springs raised the car somewhere between 4-5". I oredered up some 2" cast iron drop blocks for a Dakota (because I have the 8.8 rear & it has 3" axle tubes) & they work just fine. I just needed to pop the bottom load helper spring.. you know, the 1/2" think bar, so my traction bars would remain above my scrub line.

I also 'cleaned up' some of the wiring to help it stay away from heat & other areas where it could get cut. I pulled out the old speed-o cable & swapped it for a new one that would work w/ a Super T10 trans (or late model speed-o gear). The Flathead trans ran a speed-o cable that had an integral gear that didn't even come close to fitting. I also got the vacuum line run to the wipers so they should work (If you didn't know cars/trucks from the 50s & back had vacuum operated wipers). Mounted the new wiper & arms. I also did a little body work... welded some sheetmetal (from a washing machine!) above the rear wheels like it was stock. I cut out as much bad stuff as I could, used my sheetmetal joint tool, welded up the sheetmetal (I bent the bottom edge over so it's not a cut edge w/ my metal brake), hit w/ some Bondo & shot it w/ a little paint. Looks like nothing even happened... compared to the rest of the car.

I got a set of finned valve covers, painted them flat black & then cleaning them off so the top of the fins are shiney.. like the old 'Powered by Ford' valve covers of the 60s & 70s, vintage Mickey Thompsons, etc. They look a lot better than the pro stock ERSON covers that are boxy.

Changed carbs yet again! This time I went w/ a Holley 4150 that was modified for racing. Choke is nonexhistant (because there isn't one! haha) & that gave an extra 50cfm.. so it's like an 800cfm carb. All I have to say is the car loves it! Throttle response is right there. Where it needs to be!! My friend, from next door, came & showed me how to tune it. We also tuned the car a little, too. Seems to like 12-14 degrees base timing w/ the cam I've got.

I've also been fooling around w/ a filtration/smoke-eater system for the garage. I took a base cabinet w/ top I had in the house, that later made it's way to the garage, & cut it up! I learned once I popped the top off of it it's from 'Aug 55'.. that's nice but I've cut up older sh1t than that. I cut openings & used some aluminum mesh I had laying around & an HVAC return vent. I mounted a 1900 box to run the 110v into. Found a 220 'light' switch (2 inputs/2 outputs.. I'm using it as a single pole switch), old switch cover plate for exposed work. I drilled a hole & ran a cord grib into the cover plate. I mounted the other Flex-a-lite 210/220 fan I had, it's 2500cfm, in the cabinet. Made up a filter rack from some 1-3/4" stainless angle I had laying around & some 1" aluminum square tube I ripped down on the table saw to make some C channel (since Home Depot.. & others don't carry 1" aluminum C channel). I got an adjustible, & reuseable, furnace filter.. it's one of those fancy 3 step filters. Made some mounting so it can be hung out of some galvanized, angle iron w/ the holes. Only item I'm still waiting on is the box to dumb down 110v to 12vdc... that should be here by the end of next week. Then, I can see how well this thing works. It cost about $60 for me to make & I know industrial smoke-eaters (the ones in bars, pool halls, bowling alleys, etc) flow 2500cfm.. not the super huge units but the smaller ceiling mounted units. They cost around $400-500 for cheap ones. Household units flow around 1000cfm & still cost in the neighborhood or $250.. So, I think it should do something & $60 sure beats $250-500. I know it'll make me happier when I weld in a closed garage or do dusty stuff.. like grinding/sanding/painting.
