Steering column lock removal
« on: December 29, 2012, 11:03:55 PM »
Today, I picked up a "gave up on it" project. He stripped the interior, right down to pulling the column. In the time it's been apart, the ignition key was lost. He would shuffle the truck around his shop by kicking the tires to turn it.

I'm not the young buck he is, and would rather actually steer it the way GM intended. I have no intentions of reusing the column that was in the truck (column shift, non-tilt), so I'm not concerned about a new lock mechanism, if I can just snap something out of it.

Any suggestions? Pictures would help.

Rather than using the BFI method, I was successful in surgically removing the lock plate.
