Motor has been inside 3 trucks now.  Sure you're still into her?  :D

I bet you could make a pair of these pretty easy too.  Use Delrin instead of poly maybe?  That might be too rough though.  They're an exact drop in for the 2.8 mounts.

hmm.. i was not aware they had different mounting than sbcs... proves how much i have to learn about them...

Harley, those would be super easy to make.

i just need dimensions and i should be able to whip them out.

anyone know more details about what mounts i gotta make to fit a gen 3 motor?

Google LS adapter brackets for a good shot of what you need made up. The Gen1 SBC used a triangular three bolt mount, the LS has a larger rectangular bolt pattern. You could just get SBC mounts and use an adapter plate, but some of the native LS mounts have a backset, or slots to allow a custom backset.

Personally, if using the stock 2.8 frame mounts with poly bushing, I would go with a set of engine side mounts like this one, from S10V8.com

Pretty easily. I know an LS1 tranny on a SBC require adapter and the LS1 clutch, and an LT1 trans requires a bellhousing and the LT1 clutch, so if memory serves, sbc t5 on an ls requires a bell housing an ls clutch.

JTR has a package that includes headers and conversions mounts for $275 (steel headers) or ($375 ceramic)

engine side mounts are basically identical, not a bad price either, though realistically, if you could fab the mounts yourself they might cost $40.

so do you think this is a good price?
also, how long will a t5 last behind a stock 5.3?

jtr stuff is too expensive, although probably nice.
i will probably make or modify headers myself to save money, and would like to make my own engine mounts... just gotta figure out the shape/sizes

I have the mounts if you need dimensions or want to take a look at them before making your own.

Couldn't tell you how long the T5 will last behind the 5.3, but not many were made out of the factory to take that power.  They can be built to take enough from what I have read and I can tell you they are pretty easy to work on, but I've never tried any of the upgrades myself.

I have a couple of pics with dimensions. Not sure how much help they will be but.
The last pic are the style I'm going to build once the time comes.
Also have a shit load of pics saved of crossmember notches and various other crap. Let me know if you need any.

I used to use a photosharing site that would upload full folders, but it's been over a year, let me see if I can find it.
