loooong bed project
« on: September 25, 2009, 08:14:04 PM »
well, quick update..

275s on the 9in soft 8s fit with no rubbing except at full lock up front.
only rubs the inner fender too. as for if it will hit the fender lip under hard cornering or bumps ill get to know tomorrow at the track day.

figured out a solid camera mount in the cab so look forwards for some nice video.. (i hope)

so if i see anyone purchase tires any skinnier than 275s for front or rear, i will make fun of you...

its gonna be interesting with 275 front 245 rear tomorrow.

wish i had bought wider....

I guess that means I have to buy at least 275/45/17 to go on my 17x8.5 c5 fronts huh?ok.

That's good news!  I figured if my 265's didn't rub at all then the 275's would be workable.  Looking forward to the track vids  ;D

quick update.
ran the first session, was probably one of the fastest cars in the run group, kept passing everyone, but blew up the engine.

the v6 is most likely toast.

video coming once i figure out whats wrong with my media player.

275s up front worked amazing. got some wheel hop in the back with the 245s tho.
excellent turn in, and much better braking stability.
no rub at all as far as i know.

since it was just 1 run, i dont know how much better it would have gotten, but my tires were at 39 psi front (hot) and 43psi rear (hot)
cold before the run they were 36/60

sadly only 1 track vid.... but photobucket nor facebook want to work for me...

yes. minimum lol

What offset?
17 in. x 9 in. 5 in. Backspace,
plus a 3/8" spacer. so that means 5 3/8" backspace

also have the belltech drop spindles. not sure where that puts me against stock spindles, but even with the 3/8" spacer the tie rod is QUITE close to the wheel although i didnt see any rubbing on a quick check

oil didnt seem murky or anything, but who knows.
gonna go rent a uhaul tomorrow and trailer it back.

the a4 was godawfully slow.
and he never looked at all the blue flags for him to let me pass either blah.
oh well.
it was still plenty of fun

btw, since I probably wont be able to drive the truck for quite a long time (budget/time) etc,
i think i should sell my nice tires before they dry rot from lack of use.

anyone want to buy my BFG G-force sports (not the all season ones. they are full summer tires)
245/45/17,275/40/17

i can provide pictures/measurements/etc once i get the truck back.

as for miles on them... umm... not too much

bought them last summer, got the on the truck for a couple months last summer, 1 track day and 1 autocross that summer, and then they got stored for winter, came back on for a bit this summer, but not as a daily driven car, took them off while the s10 sat for a while, then put them back on for this track day where they saw the 15 min session lol.

so little overall wear. let me know if anyone is interested, i just dont want them going to waste.
i can sell the soft8s too if you want but shipping them might cost as much as buying them new lol

I like how you kept going even on reduced power.  :D

I have some interest in the tires, but it won't be strong until the Spring and hopefully we'll both have v8s by then.

you might, but there's really no chance for me to have a v8 by then, but just let me know when you want them.
